The Unbreakable Rise of Duron Adams
On August 12 2018 life as as as Duron Adams
knew it shattered At just 23 years old he was involved in in in a a a a a a a devastating car accident that nearly claimed his life First responders fought for him on on the roadside for 76 minutes He went without oxy- gen for 25 of those minutes Doctors were unsure
if he would ever regain consciousness let alone speak move or dream again He spent 19 days in in the ICU and two long months at Cardinal Hill Reha- bilitation Center When he he finally returned home his his fight was only beginning Paralyzed on on on his his right side battling short- term memory loss and reliant on on on 19 different medica- tions per day he faced a a a a a a a a mountain most would never attempt to climb For many traumatic brain injury survivors recovery never truly ends Years are spent relearning skills most people take for granted such as walking speaking swallowing cooking a a a a a a a a a a a a a a meal or or managing finances Families often feel isolated and overwhelmed unsure
where to turn next The divide between life life before and and life life after can bury a a a a a a a a person mentally emotionally and and spiritually Duron was no exception He entered a a a a a a a dark season marked by depression hopelessness and suicidal thoughts He felt as as as though though his his his life was over his his his pur- pose gone his his his direction erased Yet even in fin that dark- ness God was not finished with him him When Duron stepped into a a a a a a a a a a a a gym something inside him him awakened What began as as an an outlet a a a a a a a a a a a place to to release frustration
and and fear slowly became a a a a a a a refuge As his his body began to change and and his his strength returned returned in in in new forms something deeper returned returned with it it Hope A reminder that God still had a a a a plan for his life That hope led him to to reach out to to NGA NGA Promoter Josh Miller head of the the NGA NGA NGA Kentucky Natural Classic and the the NGA NGA Bluegrass Bodybuilding Championships Duron was not asking for sympathy or or special treat- ment He He He wanted wanted wanted a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a challenge He He He wanted wanted wanted to to earn his place He He He wanted wanted wanted to to stand on stage as a a a a a a a a a a a a a a man reborn trusting that God would guide each step of the journey Duron entered the NGA Bluegrass Bodybuilding Championships a a a a a a moment that that would redefine his identity forever With courage that that electrified the the room he he he he he not only competed he he he he he won the the the Adaptive Class and was was awarded the the the prestigious Jim Young Inspiration Award What the the audience witnessed witnessed was was more than muscle They witnessed witnessed resilience grit faith and and the unmistakable blessing of God’s hand on on on a a a a a a a a a a a a a life restored Against every medical expectation Duron stood as living proof that miracles still happen Today Duron’s goals are higher than ever He con- tinues to to walk in in in in gratitude for the grace God has shown him and is is determined to to to make his mark in in in in in fin natural bodybuilding He refuses to to be defined by injury circumstance or limitation choosing instead to testify through his actions that with faith discipline and perseverance anything is is possible Because sometimes sometimes a a a a a a man discovers his purpose purpose in in the gym And sometimes sometimes that that purpose purpose is is is is a a a a a a a a a calling placed on his life by God From that that moment forward the world has no choice but to pay attention n n n n 10 NGA NATURALmag
