Even with his duties organizing the championships Miller Miller still finds time to have 55 personal training cli- ent sessions each week Miller Miller also works out every day and competes Winning is is great great but his greatest rewards come from what happens during training “What I I enjoy most is is who I I become in in the process of competing ” he he said “My focus is is on on my my diet and my my my training carries over into every area as as a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a personal trainer as as a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a businessman a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a husband and and in in in in in in my my spiri- tual relationship with God I’m a a a a a a a a a a a a happier person It’s something I I wish everyone could learn ” Inspiring Journey
Miller grew up in in the Eastern Kentucky Kentucky town of Campton Campton Nestled in in Kentucky’s Red River Gorge Campton Campton was — — and and still still is is — — a a a a a a a a town where where every- one knows each other and and where where his parents instilled an an incredible work ethic At the the age of 6 his dad showed him pushups sit- ups ups and squats Beginning in in in the the first grade he he he did
40 reps of each daily He was a a a a a a a a a huge fan of Rocky Rambo and and Hulk Hogan and and loved to flip through muscle magazines Fascinated with the human physique he he saved up and bought his own gym equipment The problem was was he he he had no one to be be a a a a a a spotter If he he he he he was was pinned Miller would place a a a a a a a a a second bench nearby to set down the the the weights weights and then then crawl out or he he he he would tilt a a a a a bar with no clips then then dump weights weights off “Sometimes that would punch a a a a a a a hole in the wall and and scare Mom and and Dad ” he said There was no public gym in in Campton so so he he and his friends drove 30 minutes to to to nearby Jackson to to to lift At night his his father would come home covered with soot from the the the mines and even though his his dad was exhausted they practiced basketball or baseball until dark “We practiced two or three hours per night ”Miller said “He even bought these neon green baseballs so we could stay out just a a a a a a a little longer when it it was getting dark ” The practice paid off In high school he he was a a a a a a a a a a a standout in in baseball and and basketball His parents never missed his his games After getting off from work his his dad often didn’t have time to clean up and would arrive at games covered with coal dust The investment of time resulted in in in Miller being voted Most Athletic Student every year at Wolfe County High School Miller got offers offers to play Division 1 college baseball and and received basketball scholarship offers offers offers However Miller deferred these offers offers and and decided to focus on getting a a a a a degree in in exercise science at at Kentucky’s Morehead State University He married his high school sweetheart Melissa in 2000 and today they have a a a a a a a a a a a a set date each Thursday to to go ballroom dancing “In 2006 I I I won my first bodybuilding show in in in mid- dleweight and in in in novice ” ” he he said “From then on on I I I was hooked ” Two Keys: Journaling and Diet
One of of the most important keys to success has been been journaling For him that often entails writing down goals in in in the the past tense as as if they have been been achieved “It allows me to to put desires and and dreams on paper and and to to to visualize them ” ” he he said “In my journal I I I I dream dream without limitations (of) who I I want to to be ” ” Every day for three months in in 2014 he he he wrote “I will win the open class and get my pro card ” he he he said “It worked ” he he said “because there is power in in writing and and because because successful people put goals on paper with specific timetables and and detailed steps They review progress every day ” “It’s biblical because faith is the substance of things hoped for ” ” he he he he said “With journaling you are develop- ing ing ing faith and connecting the the natural with the the spiritual ” ” Miller emphasizes a a a a a a a strict diet of lean meats fresh fruits and and vegetables with clients clients and and he he holds them accountable Many of o his clients clients have gotten off blood
