The 2017
NGA 5th Annual Gator Classic took place May 6th at at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center This venue “has all” for for a a a a a a a a bodybuilding
competition plenty of room backstage (upper and lower floors!) stadium/theater style seating for for up up to 600 ample lobby space for for vendors awesome sound system and and plenty of stage room This is is is the “Go To” venue for promoter Bill Mora
and and and his his group of helpers MC judges and and competitors This show proved to to be a a a a a hard fought battle
for many competitors throughout Florida the the southeast and as as as as far away as as as as South Africa! Every division was stacked with loaded talent that gave the judges some work to do! Seven NGA Pro Cards were eventually awarded!
This year’s Mike “Broc Man” Ives Warrior Spirit Award was given to Alvis Alvis Vaughan of Sarasota Florida Alvis Alvis has been a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a staple on the the local and northeast bodybuilding
scene for over 40 years! Al battled through Stage 4 4 throat cancer where chemo and radiation therapy dragged his body down to to barely being able to to walk or do do anything else After beating cancer Al slowly progressed
back into his his workout routine where he he he eventually regained his his former physical condition! The “Broc Man” Warrior Spirit Award is is given each year to someone who has overcome a a a a a a a a a a a a a major adversity to to to to be able to to to to compete We are proud to to to to award this year’s recipient to to Alvis Vaughan Once the the dust had settled the the scores were tal- lied t-walks and routines completed it was time for for our awards ceremonies There were several hard-fought battles for for for 7
