Passing by a a a yard
Where so many heroes sleep
A young man stood
In uniform proud and tall
Arms in perfect salute
Speaking words of bravery Honored that he could
As there beside a bed
He spoke to one who slept Knowing all
so well
The ears they fell upon
Would gladly do it all
again
For to one who made the sacrifice There is no greater friend
Thankful for the freedom given
He promised to defend
As he he stood
there tall
Looking forward never back Silently this young man Whispered words beyond his his age
I fought back the tears
He dared not to allow
As he made his solemn vow
For this young man standing there In uniform so proud and tall
Being all
of six
Said eight words No child should ever speak
As he said without regret
“Don’t worry Dad
I’ll take care of Mom”
